What is Play Therapy?

Nondirective child-centered play therapy is a type of therapy where a child is given the freedom to play without being told what to do. The therapist doesn’t guide or direct the play; instead, they let the child choose how to play and express themselves. The idea is that children use play to communicate their feelings and experiences, and by letting them lead the session, they can work through their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. The therapist is there to listen, observe, and provide a comforting space, helping the child feel understood without controlling the process.
